Being that we came from the east coast, we visited Kirinda first. The school Principal was informed about our visit and the bookkeeping was exemplary. This work is done by his secretary.

We visited some of the women living in and around Kirinda. The request of the secretary for a bicycle was therefore understandable. So far he had shared one with his son and it would make his job much easier to have his own.

When we proceeded to Hambantota, we took him with us and bought one in Tissamaharana, some eight kilometers from Kirinda. He took the advice of the salesman, very seriously, to drive slowly for some time and then return for a checkup.

We also paid the money for the future checkup.  It took full two hours till we got the phone call from the Principal that his aide had arrived together with the new bike!

This program is the only possibility for the women to get an interest free loan. Our thanks go to all the local people in Sri Lanka for their work every month to make this program a success.
